Thanks to PATHS volunteers and to 70% of voters in the April 2021 election, the City of Fort Collins now officially owns Hughes open space!

Hello Friends and Neighbors!

We've reached yet another milestone! Thanks to PATHS volunteers and to ~70% of voters in the April 2021 election, the City of Fort Collins now officially owns Hughes open space! YAY!

Now let's work together again to make Hughes the NEWEST City-designated, protected Natural Area with a wildlife Center for the Northern Colorado Wildlife Center! As you know, Hughes is contiguous with the existing Natural Areas, Maxwell and Pineridge, which is home to a great number of important wildlife species.

A protected City-designated Natural Area is absolutely the most EQUITABLE and PROTECTIVE use for the benefit of ALL members of our community, of all socioeconomic backgrounds and physical abilities, and for the protection of our local wildlife. And, a Natural Area explicitly aligns with the legislative intent of the PATHS citizen-driven ballot measure.

Congratulations and Thank You So Much, Fort Collins!
