SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR HUGHES OPEN SPACE!

Hughes Open Space Snow

Greetings Hughes Open Space Supporters!

We have several updates for you about our efforts to Get Out The Vote (GOTV) for the Hughes Open Space citizens ballot measure. So without further ado, let’s get to it!

  • GOTV Parade, Saturday March 20, Noon!

We are hosting another exciting “Vote YES 4 Hughes Public Open Lands!” walk and car parade this Saturday, March 20! We had an absolute blast at our previous two parades. Please check our Facebook Page or our Website for the most up-to-date information, and join us Saturday at 12:00 pm to decorate, and at 1:00 pm for the parade to get out the message about the April 6th vote to Save Hughes Open Space!

  • HOST A YARD SIGN!

We have ordered our FINAL batch of yard signs. Please show your support for Hughes Open Space by hosting a yard sign. Request a yard sign at the link below and a PATHS volunteer will bring you one! Thank you!

  • Endorsements

The citizen-initiated zoning ballot measure to zone Hughes as Public Open Lands has been officially endorsed by the Sierra Club, Mayor Pro Tem Ross Cunniff, the Northern Colorado Wildlife Center, and several other Fort Collins community leaders and organizations!
Please see our other endorsements here!

  • T-Shirt Fundraiser

We have “Vote YES 4 Hughes Public Open Lands!” T-shirts! The proceeds from your purchase go toward our GOTV campaign, and it’s also a simple way to help us get out the word about our ballot measure!
Check out our “Yes 4 Hughes Public Open Lands” T-shirts here!

  • Hughes FAQs and Hughes 101

Check out our new Hughes FAQs page and Hughes 101 page on our website! These pages aim to inform our community about key aspects of the citizens’ ballot measure, and discusses why zoning Hughes as Public Open Lands is the best future land use for the beloved Hughes green space.

  • Opposition Group
A new group called "Stand with CSU", funded by a dark money group called Citizens for a Sustainable Economy, and apparently backed by the Chamber of Commerce, is spending big $$$ against the citizens ballot measure to conserve Hughes as Open Space. This group has already spent nearly $11K on direct mail against the citizens' ballot measure. David May, the registrant of the committee, is the former President of the Chamber of Commerce. PATHS is 100% citizen-funded and grassrootsPlease donate to help us prevail against this dark money opposition to the citizens' ballot measure to Save Hughes Open Space. Thank You!

  • Kelly Ohlson, Council Candidate District 5

We’re so happy to hear that Kelly Ohlson, affectionately known as the “Father of Fort Collins Natural Areas” is running for City Council in District 5! Kelly has been a strong supporter of the citizens ballot measure to zone and conserve Hughes as Open Space for ALL members of our community and our wildlife. Kelly and his wife Linda are responsible for several successful citizen-initiated ballot measures that have protected over 80,000 acres of wildlife habitat and natural landscapes in Fort Collins and Larimer County. Kelly is also a staunch advocate for TRULY affordable housing that is centrally located for easy access to employment, grocery stores, and transit.

If Kelly is elected, he will continue his work to maintain our healthy and sustainable neighborhoods, and move us forward toward a socially, environmentally, and economically equitable and viable future for all Fort Collins residents.
    Check out Kelly’s campaign page!

  • Please Donate If you Can!

We are still in need of donations to help pay our public interest attorneys fees. As you may know, our attorneys prevailed in court against the City’s challenge to the acquisition aspect of the citizens ballot measure. The Judge ruled unequivocally in our favor, but we still have to raise funds to pay our amazing attorneys! Please consider a donation to help us with these outstanding fees.
